Riley Residential Structural Engineering PLLC was created to help homeowners, contractors, and real estate professionals get clear answers about structural concerns in residential buildings. Structural issues can feel stressful, especially when they involve a home purchase, renovation, foundation concern, crawlspace damage, wall removal, or unexpected repair. The goal of Riley Residential is to provide timely, practical engineering guidance that helps clients understand what is going on and what steps make sense next.

The company is owned and operated by Jonathan Riley Mezzenga, P.E., a licensed Professional Engineer based in Virginia Beach. Jonathan grew up in Virginia Beach and graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering. He has focused his engineering career on residential and small commercial structures and has been involved in over 1,300 residential projects throughout Hampton Roads.

His experience includes crawlspace framing evaluations, foundation concerns, load-bearing wall removals, beam sizing, structural repairs, additions, renovation support, and general residential structural evaluations. His dedication and enthusiasm to creating a win-win scenario for all parties involved is his greatest joy in his work.

Jonathan’s approach is practical, clear, and focused on real-world solutions. Residential structures often have more than one possible repair approach, but the best solution is usually the one that is structurally appropriate, cost-conscious, buildable, and suited to the specific conditions at the property. Riley Residential focuses on helping clients understand the concern, avoid unnecessary repairs when possible, and move forward with confidence when structural repairs are needed.
